A website that only looks good is not the same as one that works. Leads From Search plans every small business website design project from a keyword map built around what your customers actually type into Google.

Leads From Search then builds the site to load fast on a phone, on the platform that fits how you work. No page goes live until it passes a written pre-launch check.

Small business website design at Leads From Search covers two pieces of work beside the new site itself: keeping what an old site has earned, and proving what the new one earns you.

For a business that already has a site, the work starts with an audit of the current one, so the pages already ranking keep their place after the new one goes live. That is website redesign without losing SEO rankings, and it has its own page.

For every site, new or rebuilt, call and form tracking is set up in the Google Analytics account you own, so you can see which pages turn into a phone call or a form fill. How that works is further down this page.

Is website design for local businesses different from a template site?

Leads From Search builds website design for local businesses to a written spec, not from a generic theme's defaults. Page titles and structured data follow a formula for every project, with no SEO plugin standing in for the work.

Each page carries a call button and a short form. The site is built to be found and to be used.

A template picked off a marketplace is built to suit anyone. In practice, that means it names nobody's actual services and nobody's actual searches.

The pages, the headings and the structured data on a Leads From Search site are written for what your customers search for. They are not written for a generic "our services" layout that could belong to any business in any city.

What's included in a Leads From Search website design project?

Every Leads From Search website design project includes the same core work, whether it is a first site or a rebuild.

  • A keyword map you approve

Leads From Search researches the searches your customers make and maps each one to a page. Nothing is laid out until you approve that map.

  • Page titles and schema to spec

Leads From Search writes page titles and structured data to a written formula, not a generic plugin default. That way, Google can read what each page is about.

  • A call button and a form on every page

Every page Leads From Search builds carries a call button and a short enquiry form. A visitor is never more than a tap away from reaching you.

  • A written pre-launch check

Leads From Search checks every page against a written list before it goes live: titles, links, structured data, images, speed and accessibility.

What does "built to a written spec" actually mean?

Leads From Search writes every page from a fixed set of rules. It does not rely on a designer's personal taste that changes from project to project.

A page title follows a formula that puts the keyword first and a real fact about the page after it. Structured data tells Google what kind of business and what kind of service the page describes. Headings follow the same pattern on every page, so a visitor and a search engine both find the same information in the same place.

A plugin's default titles and descriptions look the same on every site it is installed on.

The same spec also decides where the call button and the form sit on the page. A visitor moving from one page to another always knows where to find them.

Nothing about the layout is reinvented per page. That is what keeps a growing site easy to maintain, rather than a pile of one-off decisions.

What happens after a small business website design project launches?

A Leads From Search website design project does not end at launch. The site is checked again shortly after launch. With monthly reporting it is then checked every month, using the numbers from your own Search Console and Analytics rather than a guess.

Your Google Business Profile and any directory listings start during the build itself, not after the site is finished. That way, they already carry some history by the time visitors arrive.

How does the same website work on a phone, a tablet and a desktop?

Leads From Search builds every small business website design project to work the same way on a phone, a tablet and a desktop. It is not a desktop layout squeezed to fit a smaller screen.

The call button and the form stay in reach at every width. Many visitors to a local service site arrive on a phone.

Which platform does Leads From Search build on?

Leads From Search picks the platform for each small business website design project from two questions: will you edit the pages yourself, and will you sell online?

A static site on Cloudflare

The standard build: every page is generated ahead of time and served as plain files from Cloudflare's network, so it loads quickly, has no plugins for anyone to attack, and needs no software updates. Old addresses are redirected straight from the host, and a mistyped address gets a real "page not found" answer.

Changes are made by Leads From Search and the whole site is rebuilt in seconds.

WordPress

For a business that has to change its own pages, or sell products online with a store. The pages are built from the same plan and the same spec, with no page builder and no SEO plugin, and you get a login to edit them yourself.

What makes a service page turn a visitor into a call?

Leads From Search builds every page around the first screen a visitor sees, because that is where most of them decide whether to stay. On a 390-pixel phone and a laptop alike, that first screen has to say what you do and where you do it, give one reason to trust you, and offer one obvious way to act: a call, a form or a booking.

Nothing is allowed to push that call to action below the fold. That rules out a cookie banner across the bottom of the screen, a rotating carousel, an oversized photo at the top, and decorative space that only looks good on a wide monitor.

The longer explanation of each service sits further down the page, below the form, for the visitor who wants to read before calling. That way the page can rank for a search and still put the phone number first.

How does call and form tracking setup for small business work?

Call and form tracking setup for small business at Leads From Search records a short, fixed list of events in your own Google Analytics, and only two of them count as leads. Each one carries the page it happened on, and a click also carries the part of the page it came from, so a call from the top of a page can be told apart from one made near the bottom.

  • phone_click

A tap on a phone number or call button, from the header, the page or the footer. Marked as a key event, because it is a call started.

  • form_submit

A sent enquiry form, named by the form it came from. Marked as a key event, because it is an enquiry received.

  • form_start

The first field a visitor types in. Not a lead, but set beside form_submit it shows how many people start the form and give up.

  • cta_click

A click on a page's main button. Recorded, never counted as a lead, because a click is not yet a call or an enquiry.

How do I track phone calls in Google Analytics?

In Google Analytics, a phone call is tracked as an event: every tap on the phone number or the call button fires one, tagged with the page it came from, and a sent form fires its own. Leads From Search sets both up in your own GA4 property as part of every build, connects Search Console the same way, and leaves both in your name, so the history stays with you if you ever move on.

A plain install counts pageviews and stops there. With the two events on top, a report can say how many visits to a page turned into a call or an enquiry, which is the number a website exists to move.

Why isn't my website generating calls?

A site that gets visits and no calls usually has one of three problems: it does not show up for the searches that matter, it does not say clearly what you do and where, or nobody can tell which pages are working because nothing is counted.

Leads From Search's tracking answers the third question first, and often shows which of the other two is the real one. A page with plenty of visits and no recorded calls points at its message or its layout rather than its ranking, and that only shows once the calls are counted.

What calls does website tracking not see?

On a Leads From Search site, tracking counts taps on the site's own phone links. A customer who reads your number and dials it by hand, or who calls straight from your Google Business Profile, is not counted there; calls from the profile show in the profile's own performance report, which the monthly check reads beside Analytics.

Your real number stays on your profile, in your structured data and on every listing, so they always agree. Test enquiries sent before launch are marked as internal traffic and filtered out of your property, a setting made by hand in your account and checked before launch, so a test never shows up as your first lead.

Where does website design fit with local SEO?

Website design is one half of what Leads From Search does. The other half is local SEO: the Google Business Profile, citations and monitoring work that gets a finished site found. Leads From Search's full offer covers both, built together from the same keyword map.

Where does Leads From Search build websites?

Leads From Search builds websites for service businesses across Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, from its base in Ada. Its own Ada research, and how to reach it there, are on the website design for service businesses in Ada, OK page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a new website, or is my current one fine?

If your site rarely shows up for the searches your customers make, or the phone number is hard to find on a phone, a new small business website design is worth considering.

Can I edit the website myself after it launches?

On a WordPress build, yes, from your own login. On the standard static build, a change to your hours, services or photos is made by Leads From Search and the site is rebuilt, so there is no plugin to update and nothing to break by accident.

Do you use a website builder like Wix or Squarespace?

No. A Leads From Search site is built from its own pages and served as static files on Cloudflare, or on WordPress where you need to edit it yourself. Neither depends on a drag-and-drop builder.

Will my new site load quickly on a phone?

Speed is one of the items on the written pre-launch check Leads From Search runs before any site goes live. Other items include titles, links, structured data and accessibility.

Do you use an SEO plugin?

No. Page titles and structured data are written to a spec by hand for each page. That avoids the generic or duplicate output a plugin default often produces.

What does local business web design cost?

Cost depends on the number of pages and the work involved. No price list is published on this site; send the form with what you need and ask.

Do I need a separate call tracking number?

No. Calls are counted from the tap on the phone number or the call button itself, as a Google Analytics event, so your real number stays the one on every page and every listing.

Will you set up my Google accounts too?

Yes. Google Analytics, Search Console and your Google Business Profile are set up in your own name as part of the build. That way, they stay yours.

Do you build sites for every kind of local service business?

The method is built for local service businesses that get work from a nearby search rather than from a national market, such as trades, clinics and venues. Leads From Search takes the same approach regardless of industry: plan from your services and the searches your customers actually make, then build and check the site against that plan.
